Sean Alexander is Principal Director, Microsoft AI Engineering, focused on business and technical strategy working with Fortune 500 executives. As a global industry keynote speaker and storyteller, Sean is regularly invited to demystify AI via his first-hand experiences applying real-world AI solutions. A life-long learner, Sean keeps his pulse on the broader industry, having recently completed MIT’s Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy certificate program, and is a graduate of Microsoft/Kellogg School of Management’s joint leadership development program.
Throughout his career, Sean has led software engineering teams on flagship platforms and tools including Windows, Visual Studio, Silverlight, and Kinect for Xbox, a breakthrough innovation in computer vision, voice recognition, skeletal mapping and emotion recognition systems. During his years in Xbox, Sean managed a multi-disciplinary business and engineering team responsible for building a nine-figure new business, delivering over 10x revenue growth in under five years.
Sean currently serves on the Board of Trustees at The University of Tulsa, an NSA Center of Excellence in Cyber Operations. Additionally, Sean volunteers on the Collins School of Business Board of Advisors where he was named 2014-15 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year and 1997 CIS Graduate of the Year for founding a tech incubator with seed capital from Microsoft, RealNetworks, Williams Corp. and others.
Outside of tech, Sean is an avid downhill skier, scuba diver, runner, two-circuit certified BBQ judge and world-traveler exploring with his much cooler pilot wife and two boys.
