One of the features I’m most excited about with Xbox 360 is Xbox SmartGlass. While the focus is on tapping into the best entertainment providers right now, the possibilities for this digital canvas will be endless.
Archives For Xbox LIVE
Nike just announced a new era in home fitness, unveiling “Nike+ Kinect Training” only on Kinect for Xbox 360. Featuring Nike trainers who work with some of the company’s top athletes, “Nike+ Kinect Training” is a custom training program rooted in elite Nike fitness and specifically designed to help athletes of all levels reach their potential in the comfort of their own homes.
‘Nike+ Kinect Training’ gives everyone access to the same training that we give our professional athletes. It merges our understanding of the greatest athletes in the world with the amazing sensor technology of Kinect for Xbox 360,” said Stefan Olander, vice president of Digital Sport at Nike. “‘Nike+ Kinect Training’ will make working out at home fun and inspiring, and with its seamless connection to two huge global communities in Xbox LIVE and Nike+, you’ll always find more motivation in someone to train with or challenge.
Looks like I’ll have some new training buddies soon
A few months ago I took on a slightly expanded role at Xbox LIVE, bringing in a fresh team responsible for curating our Entertainment Apps portfolio. This is a separate swim lane in addition to daily duties managing the Xbox LIVE Ad Platform and Product portfolio, it’s been a whirlwind few months and I’mloving it.
That’s why I’m so proud of all our teams in bringing together even more of the biggest names in TV entertainment this Fall on Xbox LIVE. Just announced at E3 are new and expanded television and sports partnerships with NBA, NHL, ESPN and Monday Night Football joining the lineup. Not to mention Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and Univision all joining the mix. Sure to have something for everyone in the house!
Congrats to the Team!
Peter Kafka at the WSJ wrote on, “Microsoft’s Sneaky Success: The Xbox Is the Most Popular Video Player in the U.S.”. Drawing from a report by Freewheel, the online video ad company, more people are watching Web stuff on Microsoft’s machine than on the iPad, iPhone or any Android machine, anywhere. To quote Kafka,
“…And when it comes to home viewing, competitors like Apple TV, Google TV and Roku are so far behind they’re not even competitors.”
This is consistent with what we’re hearing from many partners – that video watching on Xbox LIVE is a hit with consumers and advertisers. With recently announced ad partnerships with ESPN, CBS Interactive Gamespot, Manga, and MUZU.TV joining Sony’s Crackle, MSNBC, TMZ, NBC’s Today and UFC, we’re off to a great start together with our partners. I’m so proud of my team!
